in 2013, 59% of those in immigration proceedings had legal representation.
The main type of case in 2013 were ones relating to deportation.

declined, from 224,577 in 2009 to 173,018 in 2013. More immigrants having
lawyers means that these immigration cases have become more complex and can
take longer to resolve. That's contributed to a slowdown in the number of new
