A landlord’s lawsuit against a male tenant for
alleged damages to the bathroom tile from urine was thrown out after the judge
ruled in favor of men’s right to urinate while standing, reports The New Zealand Herald.
The landlord sought $2,855 in damages to repair the marble
floor that he claimed had “lost its sheen” from “being regularly sprinkled with
urine,” according to The New Zealand Herald.

In his court ruling, Judge Stefan Hank said men who stand to
urinate "must expect occasional rows with housemates, especially
women" but cannot be held to account for collateral damage in households.
